The newly-opened Palais Hansen Kempinski Vienna has become the first hotel to install new in-room technology to link TVs and iPads.

Entertainment systems company Quadriga's Personal Media Network solution synchronises the TV and in-room iPad to create seamless functionality, while connected to the hotel's Wi-Fi network.

Guests are able to scan a selection of free programmes via an interactive guide on both TV and iPad, as well as selecting on-demand films.

The 152-room hotel also has the ability to promote its restaurants, bars, spa and services directly to guests in their rooms via the intuitive user interface.

Ultimately, guests at the property will be able to integrate their own personal mobile devices with the in-room TV and iPad, along with various forms of personal content into a single application to create a unified network of entertainment services.

All rooms and suites are equipped with iPads, which have Quadriga's PMN application and its iRiS Guest Valet interactive guest services application installed on them.

Kempinski senior vice president information technology Jeremy Ward said: “Being the first to deploy Quadriga's PMN solution, we are providing our guests with a highly differentiated experience through technology. We are delighted to deliver this ahead of any other hotel around the world.”

“The iRiS Guest Valet has already proved itself to be an impressive app in our other hotels and guests are genuinely wowed by this. We have also integrated it into our room management system enabling guests to control the room temperature, lighting and more.”

Quadriga's area managing director for north, east and central Europe Rolf Christen said: ”We look forward to working together with the hotel and indeed the Kempinski group, over the coming weeks and months to further develop and enhance their PMN solution and their unique guest experience.”
